Q:
When is the next book in the series
coming out?
A: I really don't know. It is a long process getting everything
ready but if you keep checking back with this website I will update
it as soon as the book is available.
Q:
How many books will there be?
A: There are a total of 3 books planned, a trilogy. There may be more
if the series goes well.
Q:
Why have such a gruesome beginning?
A: That is a very good question and I am glad you asked that. Some
people say the 1st chapter (Preface) is gruesome and
unnecessary, others say it is an attention grabber and will explain the
rest of the story. I've had some parents say that they don't want their
children reading about that, my comment to them is; that's fine. If you
want to protect your children please do so, however, if you watch the
news or read the papers you are subjected to that kind of thing day in
and day out. If you come back and say; that is one thing, but my
children shouldn't have to read it in a book, then my comment is that is
a matter of opinion. The fact of the matter is people are molded into
whom they will become in life - by their life experiences, either yours
or someone else'. Why so extreme? In retrospect my books' Preface falls
along the same line as Batman watching his parents get mugged and shot
in broad daylight, or Superman realizing his entire planet was destroyed
and his parents died on it. Even the new hit series Harry Potter begins
with an orphaned baby whose parents had just been murdered. It is what
those people did with that knowledge, with that life experience that
made them into the heroes that they became.
Q:
Kaitlyn goes through a "bad girl" phase
towards the end of the book. Was that really necessary?
A: Necessary is a matter of opinion. I could have made her character
go in a number of directions, I chose this direction so she could learn
an important lesson - which I remind you is what is necessary to learn
and to grow. The story is full of emotion and I felt it necessary
to include the entire array of those emotions. Kaitlyn starts the book
by feeling alone and vulnerable. It was that vulnerability that made her
decide to do something to change. As she takes charge of her life and
then learns of her abilities, her self esteem grows, she becomes happy,
proud and strong. Then as circumstances change and she becomes sad, even
depressed and then turns angry, that anger mixed with her strength; made
her in all aspects "evil". She feels she can't go any further down,
she’s too strong to allow herself to feel vulnerable again so that is
where the "bad girl" phase falls into play. But like any life lesson she
realizes that the "bad girl" phase is only hurting her and she regrets
and repents her mistakes which helped her to mature. It was all an
important step to take in order to successfully broaden the characters
mentality.
Q:
Why Telepathy?
A: Why not? I mean, what teenage girl in high school hasn't for a
moment, wondered what her boyfriend was thinking about? What student
wouldn't want the ability to talk to his or her friend across the room
while the teacher was speaking? It's an ability that could be realistic
without going to the extreme of flying across the skies, doing magical
spells or X-ray vision.
Q:
Okay, But Kaitlyn has other abilities,
Telekinesis, Flashes that see into the future, and the strength of six
men, Do you think these additions make it any less realistic?
A: Absolutely not. The abilities Kaitlyn learned were similar in
nature. All of which are mental abilities that with time, practice and
patience could be honed by a determined individual. These abilities came
to Kaitlyn due to her mothers extreme circumstances while being held
captive. Kaitlyn's mother talked to her unborn child through mental
communication. It was that mental communication that opened Kaitlyn's
mind to those options, to tap into those unknown abilities. However, as
with any mental ability it is very hard if not nearly impossible for the
average person to use which is why the telekinesis is not prevalent in
the book. It is not realistic enough to believe wholly.
Q:
Yes but what about the strength of six
men? How do you explain that one?
A: The mothers prayer. Kaitlyn's mother prayed Kaitlyn would be able
to communicate with someone special, to see the future before it
happened, and to help others using the strength of THE six men who took
her mother captive. It was a prayer, a wish that came true and with
practice and strength training, Kaitlyn was able to get that ability. As
with any practice and training, most all things are possible. Which
brings me right back to the first chapter and why it was so gruesome. It
was necessary to express the traumatic reality of Kaitlyn's mother's
predicament, in order to help the reader fully understand how powerfully
strong that prayer was that she said every day. She wanted her child to
be safe and strong, to have the ability to keep this from happening to
herself or others. It was a selfless prayer from a dying mother which
allowed the possibility of these gifts. Something I selfishly hope could
be possible under such extremely traumatic circumstances.
Q:
How can I find out more about Telepathy?
A: Well what I did was a basic MSN search for telepathy which pulled
up thousands of websites and I started from site number one. I wanted to
learn as much as I could both fact and fiction so I could understand
about this ability since I personally don't have this gift myself.
Q:
Who killed Kaitlyn's father and Tom
McKinney?
A: Read the next book of the series to discover
those answers, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone. What I will say is
this: What you find out will be incredibly shocking.
Q:
Are there any unabridged audio book
versions of all the Kaitlyn Jones series books?
A: Unabridged audio books are not available yet but I hope they will
be soon for the person who doesn't read that much.
Q:
Who will be interested in this book?
A: Anyone who is young or young at heart. Anyone searching to find
their place in the world. Anyone who has been lied to in the past.
Anyone who has ever been in or wants to be in a relationship. Anyone who
has dealt with a bully. And anyone who has ever wanted to be special,
different, stronger or more popular is going to like this book.
